“God said to Moses, “ I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘ I am has sent me to you.’ ””
Exodus 3:14 NIV
“The best is yet to come” is a very popular saying in our culture. But since I have been here in Cambodia this month, I have felt compelled to say “The best is now!” God is with me now! I am accomplishing everything God created me to do right now! I am not waiting for the future to be all I can be. The best is now!
Our Cambodia 2016 Mission Team travelled to Cambodia with some very specific tasks. Two of these tasks were to: 1) provide a pair of The Shoe That Grows to every student enrolled in Cambodian Care Ministries’ Light of Future Schools. and 2) provide each student with medical care using medication from MAP International, as needed. We had also determined to wash each child’s feet before fitting them with shoes. So far, we have washed 680 feet in three days of service and distributed 340 pair of shoes. Our nurses have also used the foot washing station as an opportunity to provide foot wound care to the children. I cried for many of the children as the nurses worked on the infections, wounds, and parasites in their feet.
Not only have we been busy with feet, we also have had the joy of reconnecting with our friends here in Cambodia. Gabriel Rivera, our team photographer, captured this shot of me and one of our translators, Lyly. This is her second summer translating and helping our team with cultural awareness as we travel around the country.
I thank God for the opportunity to serve and enjoy life now! The best is now!
Do you have a future-focused mindset? What one thing could you do to acknowledge the great opportunities and relationships to pour your energy into right now?
