Pivotal Moments

“I live my life in widening circles that reach out across the world. I may not ever complete the last one, but I give myself to it.” ~ from Rilke’s Book of Hours

The circles in my life became wider the moment I set foot in Cambodia for the first time in October 2013. When I watched this video created by our mission team member, Carlos Garcia, I realized just how wide the circles had become:

This weekend, I am participating in our church’s annual Women’s Conference, Girlfriends Conference 2015, with special guest speakers Lisa Bevere and John & Aventer Gray. Today, we are sharing this mission trip video. I am so excited to be able to report on the positive outcomes of our September and November trips and talk about some of the great things that have been happening since we came home.

As mentioned in the video, the biogas digester site no longer looks like this:

The digester is completely enclosed, underground, and steadily producing methane gas. The new toilet facility is also operational. The Teen Challenge staff graciously sent me copies of their daily methane gas production log sheets for November and December 2014!

The Light of Future School #1 is also thriving. Just recently, Cambodian Care Ministries leased another space next to the existing school building to accommodate all of the children who are on the waiting list. Current attendance is 174 children.

Cambodian Care is looking forward to opening a second Light of Future School in the train track neighborhood (shown in our missions trip video) later this year.

My intention is to be there again later year with a team to support Cambodian Care (CC) as they expand their education programs. I believe education is one of the best sex-trafficking prevention strategies for the communities CC serves. We have our first team meeting on February 1, 2015. I am looking forward to more pivotal moments in 2015.
