Powered Up

“I look down at this golden statue, and may it remind me and every little child that no matter where you’re from, your dreams are valid.” ~ Lupita Nyong’o

This week, I traveled to a West Palm Beach, Florida to attend the third annual World Leaders Conference with a team from my church. Sitting directly in front of me was Dr. Jerry Nance, President, Global Teen Challenge. Global Teen Challenge is an international program that serves individuals who struggle with drug addiction and other life-controlling problems. There are more than than 1,000 Teen Challenge programs in 94 countries of the world. Teen Challenge Cambodia (TCC) is one of these Global Teen Challenge sites. I had no idea that I would have the opportunity to meet with Dr. Nance and share with him our plans to install a biogas digester at TCC! I was able to share with him how the biogas digester will facilitate TCC’s sustainability, provide a clean source of energy, provide job development for the participants, and contribute the the environmental restoration of the local community. Dr. Nance was encouraged and very supportive. I left that conversation powered up!

This Sunday, we will be holding our second Cambodia Mission Team meeting. I am going to share with the group that this project isn’t just about the physical power (methane gas) that will be generated by the biogas digester we will be installing. This mission project is also an opportunity for us to build our spiritual power as we continue to move forward in faith: 1) faith in God to provide everything we need for the project at the right time, 2) faith that God is with us as we travel to Cambodia, 3) faith that we will complete our work with excellence, and 4) faith in our dreams. So many of the team members have dreamed of participating in a foreign mission project that would have a positive impact and now their dream is coming into fruition. Only God knows what lies ahead, but we are stepping forward with confidence. The “stepping forward” provides physical, emotional, and spiritual power to keep going.

Do you have a dream that needs to be powered up?
